the love ship

This weekend, Pete and I celebrated our love for each other aboard the Queen Mary. I’ve pranced all around this art deco ship many times before, but I’ve never stayed in one of the rooms nor eaten at its fancy dining establishment, Sir Winston’s. While eating at Sir Winston’s, I recalled my childhood when Sizzler’s was considered fine dining in my family. And look at me now - eating lobster bisque, rack of lamb, and trying chocolate soufflĂ© for the first time (major yumminess, in case you’re wondering). I will always remember my humble roots, but it sure is nice to eat some fancy food at a high toned place sometimes. I feel fortunate for these moments, and I also feel lucky to have such a kind and loving boyfriend who takes photos of me everywhere and never seems put out. The Queen Mary was equally abiding, and I was allowed free reign. Given the leniency, I wish I would have brought my skates aboard. I have a dream to skate the wooden floors of this majestic ship. I’m gonna show ya’ll some more photos (digital) of our stay aboard the Queen Mary in another post.

Life has been idealistic as Walt Whitman’s verse and grand as a symphony these past few weeks. I’ve watched some really good bands - Reigning Sound, Mark Lanegan, and Graveyard (Swedish metal), though I feel asleep during the last two shows, believe it or not. My years of living in the fast lane have undoubtedly caught up with me. And then my good friend Tyler came to visit from Hawaii. It was so lovely to see him and hang with the old gang - each of us competing for the most laughs. Lastly, the weather has been sunny for a few weeks, and I’ve been able to spend a lot of time outdoors, which is my favorite place to spend my life.

After seeing this editorial of Rose McGowan donning a gaudy hot pink polka dot dress, I rummaged through my wardrobe to find something similar to wear. Why the heck am I wearing a vintage wedding veil? Well, because it’s fun. I will always love hot pink because it’s friendly and happy, and I always wanna aspire to be these things.

Thanks to Stacy at Fancy Disaster for taking my photo! By the way folks, nakedcowgirl vintage will be joining forces with Fancy Disaster this Sunday when we’ll be selling vintage at the Long Beach Flea Market at Veteran’s Stadium. I hope to see you there.

Fancy Disaster

My girlfriend, Stacy, has a really cute vintage store in Long Beach called Fancy Disaster. She has a wide array of darling vintage dresses, as well as a ton of vintage hats! Last weekend, I went to her store to play dress up, as ya'll know I love to do.

If you live in Southern California, you should definitely check out her store. She has great vintage at affordable prices. She also has an Etsy store for those who live elsewhere.

Sorry, I've been m.i.a. lately. I've been irritable on account of nicotine withdrawals, my dad is staying at my house, and I work 40 hours a week at a job that doesn't really suit my personality. I didn't want to come online and bitch & moan because truly I like to motivate people, and I want to be a positive place for my readers to go. I hope ya'll are well! I'll have more to say soon.

The older I get, the younger I dress.

polka dots and palm trees

I wore this Lolita-esque outfit the other day. I really don’t care about “age-appropriate” dressing; I’m 31, by the way. In fact, I take some pleasure in imaging my older self donning teenage garb, mortifying the youth and my fellow septuagenarians. This outfit is not that crazy or anything, but if you cut my head off, I’d look about 12, I reckon.
Fashion magazines are always advising women on what they should wear given their particular age. I say, wear what you want always.
